Where does snus come from?
It may seem like those colorful tins are everywhere today, but the fact is that they’ve only existed since 2014. But what exactly is it, and how did the pouch become white? Let’s investigate!
Traditional tobacco snus, both loose and portioned, was the standard in Sweden until 1998. It was only then that Sweden saw a new type of snus on the market. This was “White Portion” named after its white color. Since the snus wasn’t moistened, the pouch didn’t stain and remained white. The result was a finer type of snus with a drier surface and much less drip.
However, innovation didn’t stop there, and in 2014, the first Nicotine Pouches were launched on the market. Known as “All White,” it was completely free from tobacco and therefore pure white. Instead of tobacco, which naturally contains both flavor and nicotine, it was replaced with added nicotine and flavoring agents.
